Happy Tails Kitchen is marking a milestone as it approaches its first year of business in spring 2026, following a successful launch rooted in a clear mission and local support. Founded by Deanna Culbreath, the business was created to provide her community fresh, nutritious dog food made with locally sourced meats and vegetables. Culbreath envisioned a dedicated kitchen that would prioritize quality ingredients while supporting local producers.

As she moved from concept to startup, Culbreath sought business development assistance through the Oklahoma Small Business Development Center (SBDC), where she worked with Business Advisor Larry Adams. Adams provided guidance on establishing the company’s legal structure, identifying financing opportunities, and developing marketing plans to support long-term growth. With this assistance, Culbreath secured a bank loan to supplement her personal investment in the business.

The additional funding enabled Culbreath to purchase an available restaurant property and convert it into a combined production and retail facility for Happy Tails Kitchen. The space now serves as the operational hub for preparing and selling fresh dog food to customers in the community. Today, Happy Tails Kitchen continues to grow and expand, standing as an example of how targeted advising and access to capital can help entrepreneurs turn an idea into a sustainable local business.
