Makeba Griffin, founder of Makeba Design & Prints, has transformed a personal passion for art and graphic design into a growing enterprise that celebrates diverse beauty. What started as a mission to create backpacks that reflected her daughter’s identities has evolved into a nationally recognized brand, earning features in Essence magazine and placement with major retailers, including Walmart Canada.
Guided by Business Advisor Greg Jones of the Oklahoma Small Business Development Center, Griffin has strengthened her strategic foundation and widened her business reach. With Jones’ support, she completed business accelerators, participated in pitch competitions, refined her financial projections, and navigated international import processes. Jones also connected her with the minority supplier program, opening doors to expanded market opportunities.
Now looking ahead, Griffin is aligning her brand with STEM and STREAM initiatives while continuing her commitment to intentional design. Through community support, strategic growth, creativity, perseverance, and professional guidance from Business Advisor Greg Jones, Makeba Griffin continues towards growth of her business.
